The Burrell Collection announces winners of 'Hidden Gems' poetry competition with Bloomberg Connects

The Burrell Collection is delighted to announce the winners of our ‘Hidden Gems’ poetry competition, chosen by Glasgow Poet Laureate, Jim Carruth.

The 'Hidden Gems' competition, which will see winners featured on The Burrell Collection's digital guide with Bloomberg Connects, sought responses to some of the lesser-known objects in the collection.

Craig Aitchison with ‘Fu’, a Scots poem about one of our Chinese jade carvings that plays on a bilingual pun around the word ‘fu’.

Lilya Barnard with ‘Ode to Lain Caihe’, inspired by the figurines of the Eight Immortals in the North Gallery, particularly that of Lan Caihe.

James Bradley with ‘Peasants Hunting Rabbits with Ferrets’, a response to one of the Burrell Collection’s fifteenth century tapestries.

Julie McNeill with ‘Birthing’, inspired by the Rodin bronze Mother and Child in Grotto.
